Wear your sling on your shoulder. This prevents your sling from
sliding up against your neck or that very small muscle just below your neck,
which is extremely uncomfortable. This also helps distribute your child's weight
more evenly across your back for greater comfort.
Make sure your ring sling is spread out, lying flat and not
twisted on your back.
Once your baby is securely in your sling, start moving! Movement
is soothing! This will help your baby adjust to being in the sling, and learn to
enjoy it quicker.
Wrap the tail of the sling behind your back and tuck it in on
the other side of your body. This gets the tail out of the way and gives a
little extra lower back cushion.
Wear your baby high to reduce back strain.
Put the tail over your baby for discreet nursing.
When you take your baby out of your sling, pull up on the top
ring and loosen only as much as necessary to remove your baby. Then, when you
put your baby back in your sling, you won't have to adjust it as much.
Put a heavy sock over the rings of your sling when you put it in
the dryer to keep them from clanking around or dinging up the inside of your
dryer.
Wearing your baby is like riding a bike, at first it may feel a
bit awkward, but it will quickly become very natural with a little bit of
practice.
The fabric should not be folded or twisted through the rings. It
should be scrunched like an accordion.
Make sure your baby is seated deeply in the pocket formed by the
sling. The fabric should meet the back of their knees to prevent them from
slipping out.
